Kirsten Hengen

Board Member

Kirsten is an accountant and a sustainability professional who has worked with international organisations as a consultant, auditor and practitioner. Currently she is part of BHP’s Sustainability Controllership team, where she works to understand and communicate sustainability-related financial impacts, risks and opportunities. In addition to her professional roles, Kirsten volunteers for local community groups and currently serves as a Director and Treasurer at the Common Ground Project. Her prior professional and volunteer roles include Senior Manager in EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability Services practice, ESG Manager at Vocus, and Director and Chair of the Finance Committee at Wettenhall Environment Trust.

Outside of the office, Kirsten spends her time gardening, birdwatching and hiking in the backcountry.

Kirsten holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and is a Certified Public Accountant through the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). She also holds a Diploma of Governance from the Institute of Community Directors Australia.
