Scientific Advisory Committee

Earthwatch Australia’s Scientific Advisory Committee provides independent scientific oversight and advice to support the quality, integrity and impact of our research. 
 
Earthwatch undertakes scientific research of value to Australia and the region. Our research is designed to extend or add to the existing body of scientific and Traditional Knowledge, particularly in relation to Australia’s natural environment and the conservation and sustainable management of natural systems. 
 
The Committee brings together qualified scientists and researchers who assess and advise on proposed scientific research programs and their potential to extend scientific knowledge review the scientific merit, methodology and relevance of proposed research; 
provide scientific and technical expertise in research planning and program development; and review research findings and support their appropriate publication and communication. 
 
The Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee is a Director on the Earthwatch Board. The Committee works with Earthwatch staff and Board to ensure our scientific research is rigorous, relevant and contributes to the advancement of knowledge.
