What will I be doing during my placement?

We have a variety of active projects within the team and you will be allocated to one of them. One of our staff members will be assigned to support you throughout your placement and provide opportunities for you to assist where possible and needed.

What if my expression of interest is not successful?

Earthwatch Australia receives a high number of Expressions of Interest for internships each year, and our capacity to host interns varies depending on project needs and organisational resources. Because of this, not every EOI can lead to a placement.
We encourage prospective interns to reflect on the type of experience they are seeking and to clearly highlight their passions, skills, and motivations in their EOI. This helps us identify the best alignment between your interests and any opportunities that may arise.
If we are unable to progress your EOI at this time, it does not reflect a lack of ability or potential. Often, it simply means we do not have a suitable placement available. We encourage you to submit a new EOI in the future, as opportunities evolve throughout the year.

Will I need to interview?

If you are shortlisted for an internship position you will be asked to join us for a short virtual interview.

Are Internship dates flexible?

There is some degree of flexibility within internship start and finish dates. Please note that you will be required to attend online inductions and introductory meetings.

Will I get paid or receive a stipend?

No. Earthwatch internships are voluntary.
