Can I apply for an internship outside of the set recruitment dates?

No. Earthwatch Australia only accepts applications within the specified application periods.

Can I pitch my own project?

We’re a small but mighty team and we would love to be able to consider projects from every great intern who gets in touch. As an NGO we do need to remain conscious of the resources we have to deliver great science and a great internship program. As such, we are currently not able to accept unsolicited proposals for internship projects.

Who will I be working with?

As an Earthwatch Intern you will be working directly with one of our experienced team in delivering real citizen science.

What if my application is not successful?

Earthwatch Australia receives a large number of intern applications each year and our Internships Program is highly competitive. We encourage every prospective intern to carefully consider the placements available and assess whether the placement is a good fit. We encourage applicants to showcase personality, passions and skills in their applications and remain mindful that these placements are highly sought after. Not being successful doesn’t mean you’re not amazing, and we encourage unsuccessful applicants to reapply in future rounds.

Will I need to interview?

If you are shortlisted for an internship position you will be asked to join us for a short virtual interview.

Are Internship dates flexible?

There is some degree of flexibility within internship start and finish dates, however applications will only be accepted during the specified periods. If your availability doesn’t match with ours, please apply for the most relevant intake and mention in your cover letter when you will be available. Please note that you will be required to attend online inductions and introductory meetings during the scheduled intake periods.

Will I get paid or receive a stipend?

No. Earthwatch internships are voluntary.
