Tread Lightly

Con Costa

Even when collecting samples we seek not to leave a trace. Legendary scientist Kim Brennan from the Northern Territory Herbarium, photographs a dillenia specimen near the township of Umbakumba. While in the field scientists make as little impact as possible, both when collecting flora and fauna, this is both to preserve the habitat and to set an example for others to follow, including our budding student scientists.

Taking a photo is one of the best ways to preserve an environment intact for others to enjoy and for the land to do what it does naturally with as little human impact as possible.

The magic continues...
