The Great Barrier Reef, the largest living organism on the planet, is facing annihilation due to a culmination of factors including rising see temperatures, disease, acidification, crown of thorns and now macroalgae. Recovery of the Great Barrier Reef is a partnership between Earthwatch Australia, James Cook University, and sponsored by Mitsubishi Corporation’s Global Coral Reef Conservation Project, to provide scientifically robust ways to help reefs recover in the wake of the increasing ecological disturbances they are facing. This program aims to better understand the adverse impacts to reefs, take appropriate actions on their recovery and strengthen their resilience to future disturbances.

Mitsubishi Corporation is a global integrated business enterprise that develops and operates businesses across virtually every industry. Recognising the Earth as their largest stakeholder, Mistubishi Corporation works to ensure the continuity of its business by preserving biodiversity, reducing its environmental impact and conserving the natural environment. Since 2011, Mitsubishi Corporation has provided funding and volunteers for work in the Great Barrier Reef.
