What's provided
What you'll be doing
We’ll be travelling by boat along the lower Bohle River estuary, recording continuous video footage of the mangrove shoreline as part of the MangroveWatch Shoreline Video Assessment Method (S-VAM).
This monitoring approach helps track changes in mangrove condition over time and provides valuable information to support local conservation and management efforts. Along the way, we'll discuss mangrove ecology, identify key plants and animals, and explore the important role these wetlands play in supporting biodiversity, fisheries, and coastal resilience.
It's a relaxed and enjoyable field session that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to real-world environmental monitoring while learning more about one of Townsville's most important coastal ecosystems.
